Katya Madrid is Head Conservator at Red Dragon Conservation who has worked in the Heritage field since 2015. Her specialty is in objects and textiles with a keen interest in archaeology.

Katya studied art history at an elite university affiliated with the State Hermitage Museum in Russia, where she was first exposed to conservation. Katya earned her MA (ABD) from the European University at St. Petersburg then went on to work with the Phoebe Hearst Museum of Anthropology’s archaeological and ethnographic collections in their conservation laboratory before joining the team at ACdR, a large multi-disciplinary conservation studio in San Francisco, where she spent several years. While living in Cardiff, Katya worked at the archaeology conservation laboratory at the Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales, Cardiff and the National Roman Legion Museum. Her focus was archaeological glass from Medieval Ireland, and Roman glass. She participated in several excavations as a conservator, under the supervision of Dr. Louise Mumford the Senior Archaeological Conservator for the National Museum Wales.
